This Really Happens, Really

Maybe you can relate, maybe not, but I had to get this off my mind. If you're guilty of this scandalous routine, and you're my boy, then we must talk, cuz this ain't right.
I'm corporate, I work a 9-5 in a big ass building, hence high traffic restrooms. I must admit it took a while to get comfortable here. But one thing I noticed since day one is dudes brushing their teeth in this unholy place. Ya I said it, some dudes brush their teeth in this place, in the Land of Other People's Shit. I love to brush my teeth man, so refreshing, so cool, ahhh it's a boost of confidence really. But damn, if this task isn't the world's biggest contradiction, I don't know what is.

Everything He Touches Turns to Gold

Another Madlib Invazion. This was my first Itunes purchase and it happened yesterday. Strong Arm Steady - In Search of Stoney Jackson. When I first heard S.A.S spit over a Madlib beat it was off that Kweli/Madlib Liberation album. I knew from there that they were on point. And to hear Planet Asia rap about free-range chicken makes this purchase even more worthwhile. Cop this!

I can honestly say I've never met a Madlib beat I didn't like. If I went to Pitchfork today and there was a story about how all music had ceased to exist except beats by Madlib, I tell you, I wouldn't even care. Everything he touches turns to gold. That's why I'd like to shake his hand one day so I'd have a pair of these:

Yeah, You Think?

I've always had a great time at these islands shows, the ferry ride over, the sunshine and the over crowded beer tents. But this right here, well I just don't know what to say. Tickets went on sale this morning...probably already sold out...

I Reminisce Alot

This shot above was taken at a contest back in 1998 (!) at Board Zone up at Dufferin & Steeles. They used to hold contests every summer for about 3 years. And I remember one winter they had an indoor 3 foot mini ramp that you could skate certain days of the week. There were some hectic snake sessions on that thing. And I also remember boards taking flight and smashing into the ski and snowboard product. We'd giggle like school girls over that shit. I appreciated Board Zone, they were really down to support local skateboarding before it got really popular. Anyway this pic was from a Highest Wallride contest, I think I finished 2nd. My prize was some DC product. I asked if I could trade for a set of Indy's and some Spitfire 55's instead. Done deal, thanks Dean.

Having a hard time trying to pinpoint the place and time on this shot here. I think this is out in Kitchener or London maybe? I'm pretty sure JDM was responsible for this pic, he's nice with the camera.

MACHOTAILDROP - This looks like some kinda Wes Anderson X Spike Jonze X Terry Gilliam hybrid. Looks like a whole bunch of fun.

The Food Court

Working a 9-5 there's a routine you get used to. Smiling at people you don't like, making small talk, pretending not to be looking at this and holding back an open slap from asking faces. All these things can get kinda sour fast but there is one thing that I just can't live without..the fucken Food Court yo! I only fucks with it about once a week because things stay delicious when you use them in moderation. Just like non-filtered Camels and Southern Comfort.

Sometimes I get lost in my mind at the Food Court. When I'm in a long ass line for that new burrito spot I tend to drift off and think I'm actually lining up for the Behemoth at Canada's Wonderland. Word to that ride.

Boat For Sale

Captain John's is up for sale. Price tag: $1.5 M. From my point of view, it's a great price, that's only if the man himself is part of the deal. What a great host he is. Have you ever been there? Fuck Ossington. This place is like Pee Wee's Playhouse, full of different levels of excitement and enormous risks of danger. Where else could you stand at the bow of a ship drinking a Mike's Hard Lemonade telling tourists to go fuck themselves? Nowhere. No this isn't dreamland friends, this is reality! Visit this place now before some asshole turns it into a Home Depot.

The Captain hooks us up with some shots.

Ann Marie's Blackberry

It'd be an understatement to say Ann Marie has a keen eye. I like this picture alot, she popped it off with her Blackberry while sitting in traffic last night. We were facing west on King Street. That tactic was against the law I'm pretty sure. I think it was the pink that illuminated the sunset on a cold January evening that really set her off.

Jay Electronica

Yeah truthfully, at first I thought his name was kinda corny. But once I noticed the flow and absorbed the lyrics, I was interested, to say the least. Can't front on the beats neither, Jay gets help from favorites Dilla and Madlib. He seems patient and willing to do what's best for his career in this saturated business, and that you have to appreciate and respect. I will kick back to this all morning, then get back to that Gucci Mane this afternoon...

Where I Walk

This is my spot right here. Well, our spot, as my girl and I both love it. High Park in Toronto. It's a good escape, a nice spot for a walk, and a great place to see a busted duck with feather's missing and a limp that'll never heal. My first memory of this place is when my Pops took my brothers and I for ice-cream one summer afternoon. I remember he (or my mother?) had just bought us new, cheap sunglasses. I remember an enjoyable swing session, then a walk back to the car. The sunglasses never made it. I ran back to the swing spot only to be disappointed. Gone. Maybe under some gravel? Maybe swiped by someone? I shed a tear. But from that day on, I have never placed a pair of sunglasses on my frame. Traumatic. High Park used to be privately owned. See you in the Spring Big Homey.

Gonz

I know what you're thinking. Another person's opinion on Mark Gonzales. Like you haven't heard enough, right? Is this the 14th blog post you've seen on him today? I wouldn't be surprised. I think my first recollection of Gonz was probably Video Days. Nevertheless, if you have no idea who I'm talking about, check for his cameo in the film Gummo, and take it from there. I thought the below video sums up my admiration for him and whatever he chooses to do. The song that accompanies the vid is kinda nice too.
